Mentor: Rasmus Soini
Ebeli Big Band was founded in 2008, and consists of students from Ebeli, the pop/jazz department of the Espoo Music Institute. The annually changing repertoire has accumulated big band classics from different eras, own commissioned compositions from Finnish professional composers, and customized arrangements of newer hits.
In March 2026 Ebeli Big Band toured Finland as a celebration of the 30th anniversary of Ebeli. The tour consisted of 5 concerts in four cities, and the last concert was recorded to be later released as an album. The concert program of the tour and upcoming album features commissioned Finnish compositions from over the years.
In addition to different Ebeli events, Ebeli Big Band has also performed at, among others, Pori Jazz, Kangasala House, Oulu Pohjankartano Hall, and Jyväskylä Music Campus, where it won the Finnish Youth Big Band Championship in 2022.
Since 2013, the orchestra has been led by Rasmus Soini, who is also known as the founder of the Sointi Jazz Orchestra.
